We've heard that it's also tough to turn a profit on the high-end given that snobs & muckety-mucks often require greater attention that eats through profit margins.
Meanwhile . . .
Times have changed in the Kansas City Crossroads and the neatly hidden hipster ethos seems to be giving way to a more "urban" aesthetic that confronts constant break-ins along with EPIC rents that have chased most of the "creatives" to better parts of town.
There are still a few exceptions and the area remains more interesting than a suburban strip mall. But it's no longer an "undiscovered country" and now just a bit more of a grind.
Accordingly . . .

Corvino, an upscale restaurant and cocktail lounge renowned for its award-winning meals, atmosphere and cocktails, is set to close on Jan. 1, marking the end of an era for co-owners Michael and Christina Corvino.
Christina released a statement Tuesday, confirming the restaurant’s closure after nine years in the Crossroads.
Her letter titled “Thank You, and Goodnight” describes her and Michael’s experience owning and operating the restaurant, as well as their appreciation for Kansas City and those who helped make their dream a success.
