KCMO 2025 Homicide #126: Gunfire Erupts At Gregory & Prospect

Give and take tonight . . .

We notice the drop in homicides this year is becoming a bit more pronounced. Last year at this time the number was 135 . . . Tonight we unofficially count 126 . . . That's about a 6% drop. 

Remember that experts & locals tell us to look at the overall trend line and notice that, tragically, Mayor Q's tenure has been some of the deadliest in KCMO history so there's still A LOT of room for improvement. 

Accordingly . . .  

Here is the info that police are sharing with local media tonight . . . 

Homicide Gregory and Prospect

Tonight at 8:40pm officers were dispatched to the convenience store in the 7000 block of prospect on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were led inside the store where they located an adult male shooting victim, unresponsive on the ground.

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS to come to the scene. EMS declared the victim deceased here at the scene.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are now at the scene beginning their homicide investigation. Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and talking to people who were at the scene when officers initially arrived. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to give detectives a better idea of what led up to the shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that there were numerous people inside the store when the victim and a suspect or suspects had an interaction that escalated, eventually to gunfire, which struck the victim.

There are not any suspects identified or in custody at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
