Credit where it's due . . . This is one of the better opinions we've read that ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGES ELECTION SETBACKS instead of hiding from the discussion by way of reactionary denials or misdirection.
Progressives should pay attention as well because it's entirely possible that GOP leaders could rally and win back momentum before Midterms.
Caveat . . . EVERYTHING depends on how long this recession lasts whilst politicos on "many sides" leverage American suffering for their advantage.

"Republicans did not show up to the polls. I can only speculate why the turnout was so anemic, but it was disappointing that these crucial local elections did not spur enough interest on our side. These local elections have direct impact on your pocketbook in a variety of ways. If you are tired of the out of control property tax increases and failed to vote this time...you really don't have room to complain if they keep rising.

Yet, if you look at what they ran on, their stated goals are the vague and tired talking points of the far leftists who promise things like affordable housing, bike trails, and rainbows to get elected...then tax you to death because they will have no restraint in spending your tax dollars. Bike trails are meaningless to people who are having trouble paying their bills . . ."
