DJI is facing an outright ban in the United States if an audit mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act doesn’t take place. The government has not started the audit despite the fact that it has been almost a year, and even if it does so now, that doesn’t mean DJI is in the clear.
Even worse . . .
KCPD doesn't like talking about the specifics of their drones BUT YES, a great deal of their fleet is DJI gear because it leads the industry.
And so . . . Two fun facts stand out . . .
Like it or not, KCPD is using A LOT of Chinese tech to boost urban surveillance.

This pricey tech comes with problem that most newsies, politicos and many top level po-po don't really understand.

Kansas City Council recently approved $500,000, matched by the Police Foundation of Kansas City, to grow the police department's fleet of artificial intelligence-powered drones. The controversial tech is used by police across the country as part of a "drones as first responders" program.
