Members of Kansas City’s council approved new rules designed to improve safety and address problem businesses, parking lots, and public spaces across the city.

Council members said the action will strengthen the city’s ability to respond to complaints and act to improve safety.

The ordinance updates the city’s Chronic Nuisance Code. It originally focused on parking lots in the city’s entertainment districts. The code now includes all “problem properties” citywide.
