"A newborn baby was taken from his mother and kept from his family for nearly a year. A Kansas City couple is now speaking out after child abuse allegations that were ultimately dismissed cost them the first year of their son’s life."

"FOX4 reached out to Children’s Mercy multiple times over the course of 11 days with questions about their process for reporting suspected child abuse, including the SCAN (Safety, Case, and Nurturing) team responsible for identifying possible abuse.

"The hospital has not responded to those questions."
