Kansas City Homicide #125: Man Shot Dead On Sidewalk

Today we notice east side aftermath and more evidence that a slight drop in crime shouldn't sgnal any "solution" for local violence. 

Here's info the police have shared with media . . .  

Homicide 39th and Chestnut

This morning, just before 11AM, officers were dispatched to the area of E 39th St. and Chestnut Ave. on a reported shooting.

Officers responded and began canvassing the area for any victims. Officers located an adult male victim lying on the sidewalk unresponsive and suffering from gunshot trauma. EMS immediately responded and declared the victim deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. A subject of interest has not been identified and no one is in custody. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

If anyone was in the area and heard or saw anything or has any information, they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
