Fire officials say it happened around 7:08 p.m. Saturday, when the ambulance, which was responding to a call, had pulled over behind a vehicle on the highway when it was hit by a tractor-trailer.

Officials say the tractor-trailer then crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes of U.S. 169 Highway.
