Kansas City 18th & Vine Workers Doubt Sketchy New Parking Garage

We love this report that shares talking points and then street level wisdom . . . Here's the reality check: 

The $20 million facility is being funded through the Convention and Tourism tax said Councilwoman Melissa Patterson-Hazley.

“It is the first publicly funded garage on the entirety of the East of Troost,” Patterson-Hazley said. “When you have good infrastructure, you can do other types of things.”

But not all local business owners are enthusiastic about the garage’s location. Residents seem particularly concerned about nighttime safety and walking distance for people who work late or enjoy the nightlife.

“At times when there’s people that’s working at night or people that have the nightlife that just had a long day of work, I don’t know how everybody else will, but that’s too far for me,” one nearby worker said.
