Jackson County Assessor Appointment Confronts J6 Crisis

Right now, behind the scenes, there's a growing debate regarding the next Assessor who will be appointed by Exec LeVota . . .

The basics . . .

REPORTED J6 CONNECTIONS IRK JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATORS!!!

Special thanks to a courthouse insider for explaining the controversy evenhandedly . . .

"Lots of talk around who’s replacing Gail, let’s not forget the reality for Preston -- The Dem Majority can't back him. Of course, the Legislature likes Preston, but for a majority of the Democratic Party officials, there's no way they can support his appointment."

We'll reveal our bias . . .

TKC also likes Preston Smith because he has been a tireless advocate for assessment reform and better public info . . .

Sadly . . .

Once again national politics complicates municipal life and the worsening local partisan divide.

Check-it . . .

"A Republican who recently announced his candidacy to unseat Jackson County Executive Frank White told The Star that he was part of the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol last Jan. 6. Preston V. Smith of Blue Springs said he breached the police perimeter around the building and came within 10 feet of the doors leading to the Senate.

"But Smith denies that he went inside the building that day, clarifying one of his online posts that gave some the impression that he had entered the Capitol along with hundreds of other supporters of former President Donald Trump."
