Independence, Missouri Police Confront 'Overly Emotional' Discrimination Lawsuit

We might have put this note in a compilation earlier this week but a few more write-ups are available to feature and it's worth considering how every workplace continues to evolve despite push back over DEI. 

Here's the word . . . 

A former Independence police officer is suing the Independence Police Department over claims of sex discrimination and retaliation following the death of Officer Cody Allen in February 2024.

The lawsuit claims superiors at the police department criticized her performance on the day of Officer Allen’s death, calling her “overly emotional” at the scene.

She had worked at IPD since November 2017. Since then, she claims she performed her duties as a police officer “satisfactorily” and with “little discipline.”
