Missouri Trooper Chase Ends In Gunfire On Kansas City Streets

Aftermath of late night pursuit and a dust-up betwixt police vs. suspects.

Officer Involved Shooting- Missouri State Highway Patrol

Just before 9:15 PM, KCPD dispatch was notified about a vehicle pursuit involving the Independence Police Department.  The pursuit information was updated a short time later, advising the pursuit entered Kansas.

Just after 9:30 PM the vehicle reentered Missouri, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol became involved in the pursuit.

At approximately 9:45 PM the pursuit stopped in the 9200 block of Oakland. Based on the information available now, there was an interaction between the suspect and the trooper that led to shots being fired by the trooper toward the suspect.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and the pursuit continued as Independence PD and KCPD officers pursued the vehicle. The vehicle pursuit concluded a short distance away in the 8100 block of East 91st Terrace.

Two subjects of interest were taken into custody pending further investigation. The adult male driver was transported to a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. He is reported to be in non life threatening condition. 

This is being investigated as an officer involved shooting. No Kansas City or Independence officers discharged their weapons.  KCPD is the investigating agency. The investigation is ongoing.
