Members of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association gathered at KCI baggage claim in bright yellow shirts, handing out leaflets to passengers with a clear message: stop the shutdown.
Officials at KCI said the shutdown is not impacting flights currently, but controllers warned the situation is unsustainable.
Aaron Merrick with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association said the shutdown is making already short staffing even worse.
