Kansas City Mayor Q Mistakes Liberty Memorial Legacy Amid World Cup Hype?!?

Allow us a quibble . . . Here's how Mayor Q describes the "meaning" of Liberty Memorial amid the constant stream of promotional garbage for a few upcoming soccer games and taxpayer funded parties that accompany the circus . . . Check-it:

The festival will be held at the National World War I Museum and Memorial, offering convenient access to transportation and local events during the World Cup.

“The National WWI Museum and Memorial, an enduring symbol of the importance of international peace and cooperation, is an ideal location to bring people from around the world together in Kansas City,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said, according to the KC FIFA World Cup website.

Reality check . . .

For anybody with even a modicum of understanding regarding history. World War I and this local tribute to the massacre is mostly a moment to FAIL.

The war to end all wars didn't really.

And so . . .

For people who look closely, Liberty Memorial REALLY serves an anti-war memorial and a reminder that promises from elected leaders are almost always broken.

Also . . . Just for fun . . . And because this is still an ALTERNATIVE news outlet. Let's not forget cowtown gay community lore that RE-APPROPRIATED the phallic symbol as a beacon for random hookups before the HIV/AIDS pandemic forced EVERYBODY to be a bit more selective about their "dating" habits.

And of course . . . We'll share the boring, family fun snooze fest . . .
