Kansas City Livestream Talks Homeless Crisis For 24 Hours

Sitting on a bench for 24 hours, Eric Burger wanted to do something simple: talk.  The Shelter KC executive director joined more than 70 organizations across the country for a 24-hour livestream called “Conversations on a Bench,” an event aimed at putting faces and stories to the nation’s homelessness crisis.  “We’re just talking to people,” Burger said. “We’ve had folks that are staying with us, folks that are just on the street. We’ve had other homeless shelter providers.”  The national effort connected charities and ministries from coast to coast, each dedicating a full day to open dialogue about homelessness,  its causes, its challenges and, most importantly, the people affected.
