A "concerned" note from an insider comes our way courtesy of another trusted insider who clearly knows that local MSM won't report this drama without including at least two thousand words from activists.
As always, TKC readers want the basics . . . Here's the sitch:
PUBLIC SAFETY SUPPORTERS REBUKE COUNCIL DUDE DUNCAN'S FLEX AGAINST POLICE FUNDING!!!
And so . . .
We lifted this quote that explains how power move is moving forward with a sneak peek at silly legislation which, as we warned, is starting the KCPD "defunding" fight all over again.
Check-it . . .
"Councilman Duncan filed an ordinance proposing to start pulling money out of the newly renewed Public Safety Sales Tax — the very same tax he fought and campaigned against.
"Duncan has consistently voted against most, if not all, police department funding requests. He vehemently opposed passage of the Public Safety Sales Tax, which voters were told was essential to build a new jail and support law enforcement to reduce crime. Voters were promised that this money would directly support public safety — not be redirected for unrelated projects.
"Now, Duncan is attempting to raid those funds and divert them elsewhere. He’s also waged a very public fight against constructing a city jail, so it’s no surprise that he’s now trying to redefine public health issues as “public safety”.
"Even more concerning, the proposed expenditure may violate the law — specifically, the purposes for which the bonds tied to the tax were sold. Using those funds outside their voter-approved intent could place the city in legal and financial jeopardy."
"Watch closely to see who supports this ordinance."
