Streetcar celebration was nearly spoiled for the Congressman when local climate activists ambushed him with a series of questions that don't seem as relevant given a recent ceasefire.
From our vantage . . . The political flex seemed disrespectful and like a political stunt gone wrong that won't help to further their cause and might not be as relevant to local voters as they'd like to think.
In fairness, here's their perspective on the toy train political dust-up . . .
"In early September, Kansas Citians asked him directly to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act. When he said he hadn’t read it, they supplied him with a 3-page copy to read. Almost 2 months later and he claims he still hasn’t read the bill.
"After meetings with his staff, multiple direct asks to co-sponsor the bill, and hundreds of constituent emails, Rep. Cleaver still pretends like he hasn’t heard about Block the Bombs Act.
"Rep. Cleaver is feigning ignorance while our taxpayer dollars are actively killing and maiming Palestinians. It’s cruel and we don’t buy his act!"
