Kansas City 2025 Homicide #124: Downtown Gunfire Kills Overnight

This week we've been talking about life inside the loop and in the early morning we're getting a look at "momentum" moving in the wrong direction.

Actually, new & old apartments on the west side of Downtown aren't known for a lot of violence but that didn't stop gunfire ringing out. 

Here's the info that police are sharing with media this morning . . .  

Homicide 900 block of Jefferson

This morning, just after 12:15 AM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Jefferson on a reported sound of shots call. While in route the call information was updated that someone had been shot. 

As officers arrived they located an adult male victim, suffering from gunshot wounds, just inside of an apartment building. Officers began performing life saving measures as KCFD Medics arrived. EMS declared the victim deceased on scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shots being fired and the victim being struck. Crime scene personnel and investigators are canvassing the scene for witnesses, physical evidence, and any available surveillance footage.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
