A parking lot shoot out claims another local life . . . We'll update later tonight as more info becomes available for now here are the basics
UPDATE: Here's what police are sharing with local media . . .
Homicide 1300 block of E. Bannister Rd.
Tonight just before 6pm officers were dispatched to the convenience store in the 1300 block of Bannister Rd on a shooting call.
On arrival officers were directed to an adult male shooting victim unresponsive on the ground next to the business.
Officers rendered aid and called for EMS who responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives are at the scene investigating and canvassing for any witnesses. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to give detectives an idea of what led up to the shooting.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had an interaction with an unknown suspect in the parking lot of the business that escalated to gunfire which struck the victim.
If anyone heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
