Jackson County Legislator Charlie Franklin Holds Next Exec Swing Vote

Today a lot of journalists & talkers will pontificate on the impact of a historic Jackson County recall.

Here at TKC it's easier and much more fun simply to share with readers how this hot mess works.

Let's start by sharing the post title headline that didn't fit up top:

RIGHT NOW, LEGISLATOR CHARLIE FRANKLIN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTED OFFICIAL IN JACKSON COUNTY!!!

Allow us to explain with a simple bit of math . . .

Sure, there's talk of a long shot court fight, all manner of activists besieging the courthouse and even lobbying from politicos higher on the food chain.

However . . .

THE GAME TO PICK THE NEW JACKSON COUNTY EXEC IS SIMPLE: IT'S CALLED "COUNT TO FIVE" AND IT HAS BEEN UNDERWAY FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS!!!

Here's our perspective on how the math works . . .

Already, Legislators who represent and align with Freedom, Inc. have four votes out of nine.

There are two votes that will NEVER APPROVE of the new boss . . . Two more votes typically don't align with Freedom and the faction that's coming to power.

And that leave us with Legislator Charlie Franklin . . . He's the swing vote and possibly the last real "king maker" we've enjoyed in this cowtown for awhile.

Background . . .

"Mr. Franklin was elected to the Legislature in 2018.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in private practice in Independence, and is a lifelong resident of the 3rd District. He is currently a director of the Noland Road Community Improvement District, a member of the Missouri Bar and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ . In the past, Charlie has served as Chairman as well as Advisor for the Jackson County Board of Equalization."

From what we've heard . . . He's also an all around good guy and one of the very few leaders who puts personal relationships ahead of politics.

And so . . .

We don't suspect Mr. Franklin will let the decision go to a judge . . . Or drag the process out too long.

Instead . . . What we've heard is that after the election is certified, expect a quick call for a vote and a push to finish picking the new boss in less than two weeks.

Close TKC readers will remember we already called it . . . (Hint: It's DaRon)

Accordingly . . .

This post offers just a bit of time for locals to be nice to Mr. Franklin and encourage him to get "A BIT EXTRA" for constituents in return for his vote.
