He announced his first action as executive: capping all commercial property tax assessment increases at 15% for properties valued under $5 million.
It won’t stop there; he says the county will retroactively correct any increases above that threshold.
While commercial property is his first target, LeVota says residential assessments will be next but he plans to work with the Jackson County Legislature on those changes.
