Expect Jackson County Courthouse Upheaval After Assessor Vote

Things are changing QUICKLY at 12th & Oak and we're doing our best to keep up with the drama.

Here's what we know for certain . . .

The new administration and the Legislature seem EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS about replacing the assessor now that early voting has started.

When it comes to municipal jobs, there's always the threat of litigation and political blowback.

However . . .

INSIDERS WARN THAT VOTERS COULD SPARK EPIC COURTHOUSE CHANGES AS THE ASSESSOR VOTE IS UNDERWAY!!!

Right now . . .

Recall petition organizers are clamoring for the current assessor's IMMEDIATE departure but it seems like they're going to have to be patient and probably won't get their wish until after the voting is complete.

In the meantime . . .

An important insider sent this off-record note our way that might provide some perspective on how/where things are moving . . .

"It’s not a IF the assessor is gone, it’s a WHEN she is gone."

Read the mainstream take via www.TonysKansasCity.com link . . .

KMBC: "Voters are weighing whether to change the county’s assessor position from an appointed role to an elected one, a measure that could reshape how the office operates and who it answers to."
