Ding Dong The Pitch Is Dead!!! Iconic Kansas City Mag Stops Printing

Today marks a milestone in Kansas City print media. The Pitch — local alternative institution has ceased publication and now looks to continue solely on the Internet and via social media.

Actually . . .

They stopped printing in August and word seems to be getting out amongst advertisers and local media.

More to the point for our TKC purposes of watching the demise of dead-tree media . . .

THE PRINTED VERSION OF THE PITCH IS KAPUT & TKC TIPSTERS BREAK THE NEWS FIRST!!!

Sure, there might be a social media update somewhere . . . But out blog community is taking credit for it because that's kinda how this Internets thing works.

Full disclosure . . . That "Pitch is dead" headline was a suggestion for which we're grateful . . . There's no way TKC was ever that cleaver and we're doing our best to work our way out of one of many slumps that has marked our bloggy journey.

Here's the word and a bit more info . . .

"Heard the Pitch is discontinuing its printed issue . . . They seem to have taken two months off due to an issue with their printer and now are saying no more print issue."

Media insider analysis that we respect . . .

I suppose one could ask “If they’ve not printed an issue for two months and no one noticed, does anyone actually care?”

If only out of morbid curiosity . . . We think TKC readers might care . . . Or maybe just to indulge a bit of nostalgia.

Moreover . . .

We think they should have put out a farewell issue but for now this is the last, kinda ironic, dead tree communication from The Pitch via www.TonysKansasCity.com link . . .
