Could Militarized Police Golf Carts Save Downtown Kansas City?!?

Hopefully . . .

At the very least . . . If we can ever scrape together the pennies to afford a golf course trip, we want a cammo version of this tech . . . Or maybe safety orange just to cheese off the neighborhood association.

Check the official story . . .

To increase visibility and to better reach places that would be difficult or impossible with traditional police vehicles, KCPD’s Downtown Foot Beat is now using UTVs.

Officers will use a pair of UTVs to patrol alleyways, parking lots and garages, and city streets. They will also have the ability to go off-road in industrial areas, trails, and parks.

The UTVs are enclosed with roll bar protection, and are equipped with A/C and heating, meaning that officers will use them year-round in all types of weather.

Residents who have seen them have been very receptive to our officers using them. Foot Beat serves downtown, the Crossroads, the West Bottoms, the River Market, and the 18th & Vine District.

KCPD thanks the Police Foundation of Kansas City, a nonprofit, for donating the UTVs to department.
