Taxpayer dollars are not being used for the wraps.
The cost for a full wrap: $13,000 to $15,000.
“Chappel Roan paid for the wrap,” said Donna Mandelbaum, spokesperson for the KC Streetcar Authority, which is not a city agency.
The KC Streetcar Authority relies on city taxes, as well as federal funding, but it is a separate, nonprofit agency that coordinates with the city and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority to manage and operate the streetcar. The streetcar wraps and sponsorships at streetcar shelters raise revenue that go to support streetcar operations.
