According to the KCPD blue sheet, this is 2025 homicide #121 and that doesn't give us much progress over last year . . . Even worse . . . This location is a frequent "hot spot" for local confrontations.

Homicide 7100 blk of Longview LATE DEATH
On 10/04/25, just before 5:30 PM, officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Longview Road on a reported shooting.
Upon arrival officers located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Crime scene personnel and Assault Squad detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation.
Just before 9:30 PM, detectives were notified that the victim died of their injuries. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and will continue to look for video surveillance and potential witnesses. Investigators will also work to determine what led up to the shooting. The preliminary investigation indicated there was an interaction between multiple individuals in a nearby park just prior to the shots being fired and the victim being struck.
