The Pitch 'Best Of' Tradition Endures Despite Limited Kansas City Reader Interest

One more time for the cheap seats . . .

Long, long ago the "best of" edition of any local magazine was a great way to take a few extra coins from desperate local advertisers so that EVERYBODY could feign relevance. Now, social media and the endless glut of bot, real & troll opinions have rendered this selling proposition mostly defunct.

Still . . . That's no reason to give up the trend.

Fun fact . . . TKC won this prize about 5 times when they actually let people vote without too much editor tinkering.

As the years have passed . . .

Local biz stopped displaying their trophies, the awards ceremony was no longer a big deal and didn't happen every year . . . And "The Pitch" isn't REALLY this town's top alt-daily . . . It's a nice project from some very tall & lucky dude whose dad is an investment banker.

To be fair . . . This year they have published a few great local rants that remind us of why this free rag was so treasured amongst Midtown scumbags.

Either way . . .

We share the link out of habit and because BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS suggested it.

Check a bit of weekend nostalgia . . .
