"At a Monday night Wyandotte County Public Works Safety Committee meeting, county leaders brought up a proposed ordinance to ban unlawful camping.
"Commissioner Tom Burroughs said the community brought issues of public safety regarding homeless people. He claimed trash, loitering, bodily fluids, and drug paraphernalia are just some of the problems they’re seeing.
"The ordinance would make sleeping outside around the county on public and even private spaces unlawful. It would result in a $200 citation, up to 30 days in jail, or even both. "
