This story has a couple of implications . . .
We're actually surprised at the level of push back in suburban Kansas.
Moreover . . .
The response was unequivocal and takes a more "progressive" tone than so many other nearby suburbs.
Check-it . . .
Many people in Overland Park took issue with some of the language in the $500,000 grant.
It includes directives on Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The new language in the grant could mean local officials would have to cooperate with ICE in immigration enforcement.
City Manager Lori Curtis Luther made it clear before the vote that there will be "no change" with the city's interactions with ICE and DEI programs.
Curtis Luther went on to say the city "will not and cannot" enforce immigration policies.
