An important juxtaposition . . .
Local leaders are focused on "no barrier" facilities that don't regulate drug/alcohol use . . . But places for the homeless to get clean don't earn that same level of interest.
A bit of evidence . . .
The program started two years ago, thanks to a grant from Wyandotte County ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act of 2021) funding. The sober living program served residents of Wyandotte County, providing a safe place for those recovering from alcohol addiction to continue recovery after leaving rehabilitation.
The facility has a capacity of 24 and will officially cease operations at the end of September.
