Kansas Politicos Stay Losing Money Despite Revenue Uptick

So much for fiscal conservatism in the Sunflower State . . . We'll appreciate entertainment by way of the partisan blame game but it'll be hard for the GOP super majority to dodge at least some culpability.

In fiscal year 2025, Kansas tax collectors brought in a bit over $10 billion in revenue. Meanwhile, the state spent a little over $10.3 billion.

The state expenditures were about $293 million more than the receipts.

That gap between receipts and expenditures is projected to grow to about $1.1 billion in fiscal year 2026. The projections show a $773 million deficit in 2027, a $769 million deficit in 2028 and a $720 million deficit in 2029.
