
The local murder count continues to escalate, here's the latest early evening update . . .
Homicide 100 block NE St. Luke’s Blvd
This afternoon around 2:30PM, officers were dispatched to 100 NE St. Luke’s Blvd on a reported shooting that is believed to have occurred near 88th Place and James A Reed.
Upon arrival, officers were advised a juvenile male under 16 arrived at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical staff made every attempt to perform life saving measures before subsequently being pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking outside when he heard several sounds of shots and was struck by gunfire. The victim was able to call a friend for help where he was picked up and transported to the hospital by private conveyance.
We do not have any suspect information at this time and no one is currently in custody.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the area to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
