Kansas City Mayor Q Prays For Peace & Fears NextGen Impact After Charlie Kirk Killed

As the leader of an American city . . . This was an important message of peace to send via social media.

"Cracks in our republic continue to shatter the peace a new generation of our young people deserve with too many halting, once unthinkable, and violent tragedies in the years since to mention.  I grieve for all victims and their families, but I also think about our kids.  Kids going to school in Minnesota who lost peers in a mass shooting mere weeks ago.  Kids at a university campus in Utah who saw a day of political engagement turn to horror.  Kids in our city who have seen too many young friends fall to violence.  

"American kids will spend much of an early year coming to schools with flags at half-staff.  In my early years, that usually meant a former president or national leader had passed.  For the past generation, it too often has been the result of tragic, avoidable, and preventable violence taking lives too soon. "
