
Here's the latest on local gunfire and a deadly spate of violence in the urban core as homicide numbers continue to trend higher than last year.

Homicide 5200 block of Winner
This evening around 11:15PM officers were dispatched to the 5200 block of Winner Rd. on a reported sound of shots.
While canvassing the area, officers located security personnel who advised a shooting had occurred and directed officers to a crime scene. While officers were on scene, dispatch advised an adult male shooting victim was transported to an area hospital by private conveyance and subsequently pronounced deceased. An additional adult male shooting victim arrived at a separate hospital in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations indicates an interaction between a group of individuals took place and escalated to gunfire. The number of people involved is currently unknown.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
A subject of interest has not been identified at this time and no one is in custody.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
