Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach sued Gov. Laura Kelly, alleging her refusal to provide SNAP data to the USDA risks an "imminent" loss of federal funding.

The Kelly administration argues there is no immediate threat to funding due to a lengthy appeals process.

The federal government has said in court filings that a loss of state SNAP funding is "not imminent."
