As another budget shut down moves closer . . . Here's the perspective of KC's embattled congressman regarding monetary decisions that will hit home for many Americans . . .
"Not only would the Republican budget proposal permit the largest cut to Medicaid in history to move forward, which Republicans enacted earlier this year, but it would also allow the expiration of tax credits used by working class families to afford their health insurance premiums. According to one analysis, if the tax credits are allowed to expire, a typical 60-year-old couple making $82,000 would see monthly marketplace premiums more than triple, from $581 to $2,111 - an annual increase of roughly $18,400 for the household. At a time when Americans are already struggling to get by, this will only make matters worse."
