Congressman Cleaver Blames MAGA For Cost Of Living Spike

The latest note from KC's Congressman offers a perspective that's missing one inconvenient fact . . .

Even the most strident supporters of Prez Biden are forced to admit that his administration was notorious for a historic inflation spike.

Still . . . The reality is that presidents throughout history have always taken heat for the current American economic situation no matter how much they try to blame the old boss.

Accordingly . . .

Here's what the Congressman had to say . . .

EC From D.C. -- The Cost of Living Is Too Darn High

Hello Neighbor,

I returned to Washington last week after spending time with Missourians across the Fifth Congressional District during the August District Work Period. At every stop I heard the same thing – the cost of living is too darn high.

According to the Producer Price Index, wholesale inflation surged in the August economic report, making the biggest jump in more than three years. Moreover, electricity prices are rising twice as fast as inflation, ensuring higher monthly utility bills for Missouri families. Additionally, after numerous downward revisions, the August Jobs Report revealed that May-July were the weakest 3-month period of job growth since 2020.

It seems clear to me that the president’s tariff taxes are raising prices, killing jobs, and slowing our economy—but I want to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your opinion, I always appreciate hearing from you. As always, if you need assistance with a federal agency or simply want to voice your opinion on an issue important to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office or emailing me.

Sincerely,

Emanuel Cleaver, II
Member of Congress
