Credit to locals who are putting this screenshot on blast that OBVIOUSLY MAKES MISSOURI REDISTRICTING LOOK RIDICULOUS to anyone with even a shred of political integrity.
Sure, in theory redistricting is fine . . . But that cross-section image is more powerful than constant racism complaining about the Troost dividing line . . . This Missouri hatchet job is a bad joke and it looks like it's already starting to backfire given that MAGA & the Jeff City GOP OBVIOUSLY didn't take this effort seriously.
The punch line that so many political neophytes might not understand . . .
Here's how that works . . . And it's already in motion . . .
"On Friday afternoon, People Not Politicians announced it plans to gather the more than 100,000 signatures needed in six out of eight congressional districts to place the new map up for a statewide vote. If the group turns in enough signatures 90 days after the special session ends, the map cannot take effect unless Missourians approve it."
Another consideration . . .
This plan is so DUMB we don't think there's going to be much support for it in any part of Missouri given the level of outrage that it has sparked . . . Other perspectives are welcome but we just don't think that nerdy map drawing really excites Missouri conservative voters who have bigger fish to fry and might even be sympathetic to so much grassroots fervor FROM THEIR NEIGHBORS . . . And that's the thing . . . A great deal of extreme right-wing conversation imagines that voters in rural Missouri hate everyone in KC & STL and that's simply WRONG, CYNICAL AND MISGUIDED in every way. So many votes in favor of legal weed, worker rights & even controversial issues like abortion reveal a far more "complex" Missouri electorate than what so many partisan hacks care to admit.
Meanwhile . . .
Per ushe, the threat of court drama brings out the latest "resistance" and a slew of outcry from so many Kansas City activists, politicos and assorted characters . . .
"Missouri's new congressional map carves up Kansas City into three separate districts, fulfilling the wishes of President Trump. The ACLU filed a lawsuit Friday, and Kansas City Council recently passed a resolution authorizing legal action of its own."
