Now that the dust has settled on this story . . . We wanted to share a couple of takeaways . . .
Tell ur mum that it's best NOT to make new friends with strangers in a parking lot. Sorry, there's no place safe enough IN THE ENTIRE WORLD where that's a good idea for an old lady.
Secondly . . .
Tell ur mum NOT to give her phone to strangers or let strangers use her phone charger. Yes, maybe it's sad that the spirit of communal property is part of our agrarian past but phone accessories are cheaply available courtesy of the Chinese . . . So a stranger can buy their own; they're sold at gas stations everywhere.
Sadly . . .
Many social media denizens will fall for culture war and racially-charged avarice but we think our advice will hold up without making the world a colder place . . .
And so we share a second look at this sad story that MIGHT NOT signal that Ward Parkway is doomed but does remind us that Kansas City was never safe for people who just fell off the turnip truck . . .
"What started as an act of kindness allegedly ended in a brutal yet unsuccessful carjacking in the Ward Parkway Center, located at 8600 Ward Parkway. Police were called there around 9 p.m. on reports of a robbery where a woman was assaulted by multiple people who had fled on foot, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department."
