Overland Park Pupper Passes In Fare After Attempting To Retrieve Stovetop Treats

Today's golden ghetto tragedy offers an important reminder to keep doggies out of harm's way . . .

Four dogs and two rabbits were retrieved from the home. Unfortunately, one of the dogs later died, the fire department said.

Investigators believe the fire was started by one of the dogs attempting to retrieve dog treats that were left on the stovetop.

The fire department is reminding people to keep stovetops clear of flammable items to avoid accidental ignition. In this case, the fire department said the family was away when a dog inadvertently bumped the burners and ignited items on the stovetop.
