Kansas City Police Report Latest 'Late Death' Homicide Overnight

Sadly, Kansas City adds one more victim to the spate of weekend killing that erupted downtown and across the urban core . . . Here's the first report . . .  

Homicide 6th and Park LATE DEATH

Tonight (Sunday), just after 7:00 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to 6th and Park on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival they located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.  KCFD EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Assault Squad detectives and crime scene personnel responded to begin the investigation. Preliminary information indicated there was an interaction between the victim and another individual in the street just prior to the shots being fired.

Just before 10:00 PM, detectives were notified by hospital staff that the victim died of his injuries. This is now being investigated as a homicide, and homicide detectives have taken over the case.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
