Kansas City Hipsters Share 'How-To' Record Guide For Local Immigration Raids

This week our hipster pals have "empowered" locals hoping to push back against federal law enforcement which is ALWAYS a bad idea unless your banker papa has enough cash to buy you a mostly defunct magazine.

Forgive our bias, but citizen media video is mostly boring unless includes a fight, car crash or some lady twerking in the face of her rivals . . . Hint: TKC prefers twerking vengeance . . . But even then, we all know the "doom scroll" is bad four the soul and the great thing about phones is that they're easy to PUT DOWN in order to do something more productive.

Nevertheless . . . Here's the quote for braver souls than basement bloggers if only because we're more likely to be bussing tables rather than fighting for the rights of servants . . . Check-it:

Another two area restaurants were raided by ICE this week. As a refresher, here is a collection of resources from ACLU Kansas and Missouri and Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR). Here are free downloadable phone backgrounds to keep some guidelines in the palm of your hand. As a bystander, like when dining in a restaurant, one way to help is through documentation and verifying information. AKA, pull out your phone to record, and ask questions if you feel safe doing so. An excerpt from the story by Sophia Lail:

“If you do witness an ICE arrest or just an interaction, verify and take video, because people have rights under the First Amendment to record the police,” Kayla Juarez, a representative from AIRR, says.

It is on us to do our part to stop the spread of misinformation and distribute resources to help our neighbors and our community. Whether you’re an ally, an immigrant, or still working to get your visa, the best form of defense at the moment is education.
