Kansas City Gunfire Kills Woman At Northeast Scarritt Point

Unofficially, this looks like homicide #99 so far for 2025 and, tragically, yet another female killed by local gunfire.

Here's the most detailed report shared with local media earlier this evening . . .  

Homicide 4000 Block of Morrell 

Tonight about 7:50pm officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Morrell on a shooting call.

On arrival they were directed to an adult female shooting victim who was unresponsive in front of a residence there.

Officers called for EMS who responded and declared the victim deceased here at the scene.

Homicide detectives have responded and are investigating this case as a homicide.

Detectives are canvassing for any potential witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in front of a residence at the scene when she had an interaction with an unknown suspect or suspects that escalated and shots were fired striking the victim. The suspect(s) then left the scene in an unknown direction.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
