Kansas City 2025 Homicide #102: One Dead & Three Hurt Amid Gunfire

This afternoon police were called to another chaotic scene as deadly violence & shooting hit an urban apartment building and several people were forced to deal with the aftermath.

Homicide 1700 blk E 12th Ter 

This afternoon, at about 4:00 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of East 12th Terrace on a shots fired call for service. While in route the call was upgraded to a shooting. Additional call notes indicated someone had possibly been stabbed, as well.

When officers arrived they were directed to an apartment building within the complex. As they entered an apartment they located an adult male victim suffering from unknown bodily trauma. KCFD EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Two additional victims were located on scene. An adult male victim was suffering from a gun shot wound. A juvenile male was suffering from head trauma by unknown means. They were both transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

While on scene officers learned a fourth victim was at a local hospital. The adult female victim went to the hospital by private conveyance and was suffering from a stab wound. She is listed in serious condition.

This is being investigated as a homicide and there is no one in custody. Detectives are determining what led up to the incident, but preliminary information revealed a possible altercation between several individuals. Detectives and crime scene personnel are on scene canvassing for witnesses, evidence, and surveillance footage.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
