The Independence School District is awaiting a judge's decision after filing a lawsuit and seeking injunctive relief ahead of a possible state mandated election.
It calls a new state law that took effect after it went to a four day school week "targeted and unconstitutional."
Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick's remarks, critical of Independence not following the new law, marred what was otherwise a "good" rating and report released Monday about the management of Independence Schools.
