ACTIVISTS CRITICIZE LENEXA, KANSAS POLICE & THEIR INVESTIGATION OF RECENT IMMIGRATION ALLEGATIONS AGAINST A CITY COUNCIL LADY!!!

Our readers mostly thought the drama was overblown . . . Others think the investigation could have been precise and started with public data available at the election board . . . Here's what activists contend . . . Check-it:

“From NILC’s perspective, a local police department should not investigate or question an individual’s immigration or citizenship status — particularly an elected official — absent a valid and non-discriminatory law enforcement justification,” Cassandra Charles, staff attorney at NILC, said in an email to the Johnson County Post. “Doing so risks constitutional violations, including equal protection and due process concerns, and may give rise to claims of discriminatory profiling or abuse of power.”

Trinidad Raj Molina, an organizer with Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation in Kansas City, Kansas, agreed.

“Local police should never be doing immigration enforcement,” he said. “That’s not their authority. That’s the bigger issue.”
