Gunman Killed After Robbery Shootout With Kansas City, Kansas Police

"The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, which was called to investigate, said that it found just before 2:50 p.m., a man later identified as Paul Beasley Jr., 24, of Kansas City, Kansas, entered the business at 8301 State Ave. Once inside, he pointed a firearm at the cashier.

"Law enforcement officials indicated that Beasley demanded the cashier call 911 and report the robbery. One minute later, a KCKPD officer entered the store and was confronted by Beasley. The officer saw the firearm and retreated outside.

"However, investigators noted that Beasley followed and shot at members of the department who were gathering. Five officers fired back and hit Beasley, who was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No law enforcement officials were injured as a result. "
