Congressman Graves Makes Or Breaks MAGA Missouri Redistricting

For those paying attention, once again the political elite are getting ready to show all of the plebs, n00bs and scumbags how life really works in Missouri.

For better or worse and beyond this pathetic age of Internets trolling wherein any gutless wimp with a keyboard can claim omnipotent power & insight . . .

In Missouri, politics is mostly about personal relationships.

Neither online trolls nor media mavens have much control over legislative policy, and even voters working together collectively can only hope to rock the boat so much.

Since Missouri was welcomed into statehood, it has been governed by very powerful people EVENTUALLY agreeing to some sort of compromise . . . No matter how horrific

And all of this brings us to Congressman Sam Graves, the titan of Missouri's 6th District and longstanding Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

There has been a great deal written about the gerrymandering/redistricting but sooooooooo much of it is just regurgitated talking points spewed from hacks from on both left and right sides of the conversation.

For better or worse, it's kinda our jorb to sift through the bile and serve up the only relevant and informative passage written amid all of the projectile punditry.

Here's the word . . .

"In 2022, Republicans rejected the 7-1 map because they feared that adding significant parts of Kansas City to Reps. Sam Graves and Mark Alford districts’ would make those safe GOP seats perennially competitive. And that might mean Missouri could send three or four Democrats to Congress if Republicans have a catastrophically bad election cycle."

And now we'll get to our www.TonysKansasCity.com punchline in the form of two questions . . .

Do you really think any of the goofballs in Jeff City are going to be able to hack out a map that protects Congressman Graves yet still keeps Mark Alford's District??? Yes, we've seen the fake numbers and they don't add up . . . There is only so much population and land to work with and taking way from the 5th will ABSOLUTELY give more Democratic voters to 6th & 4th.

One more . . .

Do you really think Guv Kehoe is "popular" enough to effectively manage every Republican goomba in Jeff City trying to make a name for himself on this deal???

C'mon man.

Guv Kehoe was a great compromise but he won in the face of mediocre competition. On the GOP side his opponents were nothing more than cut-rate versions of "Crazy Eddie" used car salesmen.

Even worse . . .

In a contest where they could have made inroads — hapless, incompetent and fundamentally pathetic Missouri Democrats ran their nitwit campaign for Guv on gun control, abortion and roller derby.

And all this brings us back to Congressman Graves who has been wisely silent on the redistricting issue.

TKC can't say what he'll do one way or another . . . We don't pretend to have that kind of insider knowledge. We know what everyone else does . . . Rep. Graves remains tight with the Jeff Roe GOP crew who have never grown to love MAGA life . . .

What we can note for certain is that Congressman Graves and his family are key denizens of the Missouri elite with connections to every major shark in the legal world, agribusiness, the shady good old boy network in the more "rustic" parts of the state and they hold a myriad of connections that extend all the way to the nation's capital. With a few 5 minute phone calls, Congressman Sam Graves can kill OR spark Missouri redistricting/gerrymandering and, again, right now the most telling part of this discussion is his silence . . . Which might (or might not) signal that he isn't too jazzed about fiddling with the representation of voters in his district just to win favor with a president entering the last phase of his tenure.

Developing . . .
