State Senate Prez Ty Masterson Launches 'Take Back Kansas' Campaign

To start, the strategy plays to the rural GOP base and hopes to distinguish himself in an increasingly crowded field.

“Kansas is home,” Masterson said on his campaign website. “I chose to raise my family here because of the promise Kansas makes to its people: the promise of safe communities, a low cost of living, and a shot at achieving the American Dream.”

Masterson, a Republican from Andover, blames what he calls “liberal Democrats in Topeka” for what he sees as a sharp decline in the state’s quality of life.

“Because liberal Democrats have governed in Topeka for 15 of the last 23 years, especially the 4 years Laura Kelly was in alignment with Joe Biden, that promise has been broken,” Masterson said.
