Regarding this debate . . .   

The argument over Sen. Hawley's rebate proposal is mostly political and probably doesn't realize the desperation of so many Americans who aren't just one paycheck away from disaster but REALLY can't exist without mounting debt. 

For balance . . . 

This morning KK offered conservative appraisal of this effort: 

"It's becoming a trend for Missouri Senator Josh Hawley to offer up ideas that sound just like a democrat.  His latest is poorly timed and needs to be tossed to the back burner." 

Fact check on the rebate idea . . . Whilst the Dems also love giving away free money . . . Recent history shows both Prez Trump & former Prez Bush have been the authors of the biggest rebate/payouts to taxpayers.  

Meanwhile . . . 

We notice very little local KC progressive love for the idea.

Hawley, R-Mo., submitted his legislation after having pledged to do so Friday after President Donald Trump told reporters he would be interested in sending a tariff-related rebate check to Americans.

“Like President Trump proposed, my legislation would allow hard-working Americans to benefit from the wealth that Trump’s tariffs are returning to this country,” Hawley said in a statement.
